LEESBURG, Ala. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Weiss Lake March 27 for the second of five stops in the Bama Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“Weiss Lake is part of the Coosa River system and has a lot of spotted bass and a good population of largemouth,” said FLW Tour pro Greg Pugh of Cullman, Ala., who has won more than $656,000 in FLW Outdoors competition. “This time of year fish can be caught on riprap and in the backs of creeks with a crankbait and jigs and possibly in bedding areas on a spinnerbait – and maybe even a buzzbait depending on the water temperature.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Leesburg Landing located at 215 Leesburg Blvd. in Leesburg, Ala. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Weiss Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
