BAINBRIDGE, Ga. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Seminole May 22 for the third of five stops in the Bulldog Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“There could still be a little bit of a shad spawn going on,” said FLW Tour pro Rusty Trancygier of Hahira, Ga., who loves fishing Seminole. “Most of the fish will be moving to the outer edges to start their summer patterns. Anglers will want to target transition places near the river to catch those big fish. I would stay in the 8- to 12-foot depth range.

“Spinnerbaits, ChatterBaits and buzzbaits will work early, and then I would switch to soft plastics and slow down, especially if there is a bluebird sky. The Chattahoochee River is really going to come into play at this tournament. The water is starting to clear up, and it will help increase the big bite.”

Trancygier indicated that the water is not nearly as stained as it was two weeks ago during the recent FLW American Fishing Series tournament, which seemed to challenge several anglers. He believes that it will take a solid 19 to 22 pounds to win next Saturday.

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Earle Mae Boat Basin located at 100 Boat Basin Circle in Bainbridge, Ga. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Seminole BFL tournament is being hosted by the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
