BYRDSTOWN, Tenn. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Dale Hollow Lake March 26 for the first of five stops in the Mountain Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“The water has warmed up, and the fish are starting to move into shallower water,” said Walmart pro Wesley Strader of Spring City, Tenn. “Catching largemouth is still going to be key to winning this tournament. The fish are going to be in shallower water – about 8 feet or less – as they get ready to spawn. Jigs and crankbaits would be the baits of choice. I think it will take about 17 to 20 pounds to win.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Star Point Resort located at 4490 Star Point Rd. in Byrdstown, Tenn. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Dale Hollow Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the Star Point Resort.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
