PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Champlain June 18 for the first of five stops in the Northeast Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“Froggin’ and flippin’ for largemouth is what it is all about,” said Gillette/Duracell pro Jacob Powroznik of Prince George, Va. “You can take that to the bank. There is always the possibility of deep crankbaits working around structures. The lake is full of barges and rock piles where the bass love to hide. But this tournament is going to be won froggin’ and flippin’ along the bluffs and grass line. It should take about 20 pounds to win. I can’t wait until the Tour stops there in September.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Dock Street Landing located at 5 Dock Street in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Champlain BFL tournament is being hosted by the City of Plattsburgh.

The Walmart BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
