Boater Dick Shaffer of Rockford, Ohio, caught a five-bass limit weighing 9 pounds, 8 ounces July 16 to win $4,037 in the Walmart BFL Hoosier Division tournament on the Ohio River at Tanners Creek. Shaffer used shad color crankbaits in shallow creeks approximately 1 to 6 feet deep.

The top-10 finishers in the Boater Division included:

3rd: Raymond Brunner, Hamilton, Ohio, five bass, 7-8, $1,143

8th: Mike Quinlin, Mooresville, Ind., five bass, 6-6, $606

Lynch wins co-angler title

Jacob Lynch of Centerpoint, Ind., recorded a 6-pound, 9-ounce catch to win the tournament title in the Co-angler Division at the BFL Hoosier Division event on the Ohio River. Lynch fished slowly using spinnerbaits and jigs in the main river at depths ranging from 12 to 20 feet.

6th: Justin Clift, Indianapolis, Ind., three bass,4-14, $370

7th: Kevin Dees, Hamilton, Ohio, four bass, 4-10, $336

8th: Brian Zelinskas, Beaver Creek, Ohio, three bass, 4-9, $303

9th: Kenny Botts, Bowling Green, Ky., three bass, 4-5, $269

10th: Mike McPherson, Highland Heights, Ky., three bass, 4-1, $235

The next BFL Hoosier Division tournament is scheduled for August 27 on the Ohio River at Rocky Point in Cannelton, Ind. After the fifth Hoosier Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the October 20-22 Regional Championship on the Barren River in Scottsville, Ky. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
