SALISBURY, N.C. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to High Rock Lake Sept. 17-18 for its fifth and final stop in the North Carolina Division. This will be a two-day super tournament where as many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards up to $11,000 and $4,500, respectively.
“There is always a bunch of shallow fish on High Rock,” said Chevy pro Bryan Thrift of Shelby, N.C. “If you fish fast and shallow, you’ll be just fine.
“There should be a topwater bite, worm bite and dock bite – basically any kind of shallow, power fishing pattern,” Thrift added. “They’re going to find a good catch; I would say 17 to 18 pounds per day, if not more, will win the tournament.”
Takeoffs will be at the Tamarac Marina and Campground located at 9120 Bringle Ferry Road in Salisbury at 7 a.m. each morning. Saturday’s weigh-in will be at the marina beginning at 3 p.m., and Sunday’s final weigh-in is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Walmart located at 323 S. Arlington St. in Salisbury. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
The High Rock Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the Rowan County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
