SANDUSKY, Ohio – It’s semifinals day at EverStart Northern Division Lake Erie and competitors are geared up for another big day of snagging feisty smallmouth. Thirty pros along with 30 co-anglers opened their throttles onto Sandusky Bay this morning in hopes of making the cut into tomorrow’s finals of this $185,000 tournament.

Conditions haven’t changed much since yesterday. Like day two, the sky was cloaked in gray this morning, but will likely clear up as the day wears on. The fish bite fell off slightly yesterday due mostly to changing winds, but anglers are still taking advantage of the bountiful bass fishery here. Look for a few limits in the 20-pound range.

The 30 competitors in each division all restarted the day at zero weight. After today’s one-day shootout competition, both the pro and co-angler fields will be trimmed to 10 anglers apiece for Saturday’s final round.

Weigh-in begins today at 3 p.m. at Bickely’s Boat Dock located at 101 Shelby Street in Sandusky. The four-day tournament ends tomorrow, when the winning pro will receive $15,000 and a Ranger boat plus a $1,000 bonus from Garmin if he or she was using a fixed-mount Garmin sonar product. The winning co-angler will receive $6,000.
