Top-20 cut to be announced this afternoon

EUFAULA, Ala. – Change is in the air. In the aftermath of last evening’s torrential downpour, anglers arrived at Lake Point State Park marina this morning greeted by thick, black thunderclouds, markedly cooler temperatures and the anxiety of knowing that any mistake in today’s competition could be a fatal blow to any title hopes on Lake Eufaula.

Although 330 anglers from more than 30 states remain in the competition, the entire field will be whittled down to just 40 anglers – 20 each in the Pro and Co-angler Divisions – after today’s 3 p.m. weigh-in. However, anglers who did not fare as well in yesterday’s competition will have a lot of catching up to do as massive weights were recorded yesterday in both fields. Currently, 20th place in the Pro Division stands at 15 pounds, 15 ounces while a similar spot in the Co-angler Division rests at 10 pounds, 5 ounces.

In order to make the top-20 field and fish on Friday, pro anglers will have to get close to the projected two-day cut of 28 pounds while co-anglers will have to bring in a two-day combined weight somewhere near 17 pounds.

EverStart action continues at today’s weigh-in, scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. at Lake Point State Park, located at 104 Lake Point Drive in Eufaula, Ala.
