Top 20 EverStart anglers head out onto Mississippi in bid to qualify for Saturday’s final round of action

RED WING, Minn. – Under hazy conditions, heavy humidity and a giant, bright orange sunrise, the top 20 semifinalists made their way past Treasure Island Resort Marina shortly after 6:15 a.m. with one goal in mind during today’s action: to survive the tournament’s final cut. After today’s weigh-in, only the anglers with the 10 best qualifying weights will advance to Saturday’s finals.

Pro anglers who survive today’s top-10 cut will have a chance to fish for a first-place prize of $50,000, while co-angler finalists will get to compete for a top prize of $6,000.

Currently, Howie Lee of Brooklyn Park, Minn., is in the lead in the Pro Division with a two-day catch of 20 pounds, 14 ounces. Randy Ramsey of Riverside, Ill., tops the leaderboard in the Co-angler Division after netting a total catch of 13 pounds, 9 ounces.

EverStart action continues at today’s weigh-in, scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. at Treasure Island Casino, located at 5734 Sturgeon Lake Road in Welch, Minn.
