When it comes to water level, Kerr Lake is like the proverbial seesaw – up and down. The EverStart Series field should remember that when they head to the Henderson, N.C., reservoir for the Northeast Division opener June 1-4.

“The bass will be in a postspawn, and they are likely to be bunched up,” said FLW Tour pro David Dudley of Lynchburg, Va. “But the water level is going to have a big impact on where they will be and how they will be caught.”

A high or normal lake will bode well for flippers, because the bass will gravitate to shoreline willows and buck brush. If the lake is down, Dudley said the better limits may be caught cranking and dragging Carolina rigs around main-lake structure in 8 to 12 feet of water.

Dudley’s call: 25 pounds to make the top 10; 24 pounds to win it.
