You may not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but sometimes you can liven up its bark a little. That’s what Heddon accomplished with the One Knocker Spook.

Performance

Like the original, the One Knocker Spook was an absolute pleasure to fish. It cast like a bullet and walked with minimal effort. The paint scarred a little but held up well overall. Perhaps the most noticeable feature that sets this lure apart from the rest of the Heddon Spook family is a distinctive “thunking” noise that can be heard from 50 yards away on a windless day.

Design

The basic design is identical to the Zara Spook, with the exception of a built-in rattle chamber that holds a single tungsten ball with about 3/4 inch of wiggle room to slide and clang. The rattle is situated in the tail section, which aids in casting and makes it simpler to maintain the dog-walking cadence. It comes with premium No. 2 Mustad Triple Grip Treble Hooks, which increase hookups and help keep fish buttoned.

Where it shines

Like its predecessor the Zara Spook, the One Knocker Spook is deadly medicine on any water body with a decent population of bass that are prone to look up from time to time. It especially excels when trying to call fish from a distance or out from under cover, and its loud rattle is perfect whenever there is a chop on the water. Schooling bass like it, too.
